Through Resolution No. 244/2016 dated 17 February 2016, the Board of the National Telecommunications Commission, issued the National Telecommunications Plan (PNT 2016 – 2020) which includes, among other goals, to extend broadband connectivity to 40% of citizens in the next four years and bring internet to 70% of companies.
At the end of the deadline for compliance with the PNT, it is expected to register 60% of households with computers, have expanded broadband connectivity to all government administrative institutions, as well as to 50 primary health care institutions and 2,500 educational institutions.
Concerning users, the Plan proposes to reduce prices of Mpbs / MB by 80% and an adjustment in the interconnection rate. Another goal for mobile telephony is that 80% of the population has access to mobile services and will also seek to encourage the development of software solutions and applications for mobile and device fabrication.
Elsewhere in the document, established the goal of expanding the number of homes passed with FTTx and xDSL to 40% of the population. As for government actions they will be implemented to achieve as many online government services that can be performed in collaboration with eSociety.
Likewise, the regulator promised to be more efficient in spectrum management.
