WTO Ministerial Conference

During the plenary session: "Trade at the crossroads of digitalization", specialists agreed that e-commerce generates opportunities for all citizens and that is why it is necessary to establish standards that facilitate its development. For Claudio Muruzabal, president for Latin America and the Caribbean of SAP, considers that almost 60% of the population has Internet access and 98% of the commercial operations in the world are under the rules of the WTO, it is necessary to propose rules for e-commerce.

Steven Ciobo, Minister of Commerce, Tourism and Investment of Australia, said: the approach that should be given to electronic commerce should be multilateral and plurilateral. "Today 60% of traded goods have some basis in e-commerce, we must harmonize it," he said.
