Arsat’s mega wholesale price will cost US$ 14 for cooperatives

The Minister of Modernization, Andrés Ibarra, this week will announce new connectivity rates in the framework of the Federal Internet Plan (PFI, for its Spanish acronym). It is worth remembering that the second edition of the study "Effects of Arsat's deployment on the price of wholesale connectivity," carried out by Convergencia Research, proved that between the third quarter of 2016 and the same period of 2017, the average price of the wholesale mega in the localities connected to the PFI fell 64%. The average mega wholesale price in the third quarter of 2016 was US$ 54.65 while in the same period of 2017 the price was US$ 19.62.

In this way it was revealed that the average wholesale price tends to be homogenized around Arsat's flat rate of US$ 18. Now, to continue with the policy of incentivizing cooperatives of the interior, Arsat will reduce the price of the mega by four dollars. Surely the measure will have an impact on the values ??offered by wholesale connectivity providers.
