Telcel buys from Axtel 50 MHz in the 3.5 GHz band

Thus, the operator has 100 MHz in that band, after Telmex also transferred frequencies to it. The Telcel-Axtel operation for the transfer of nine concession titles was approved by five of the six current IFT commissioners. The movement was notified to the regulator on May 7 and was filed in file UCE / CNC-001-2020. The financial value of the transaction was not disclosed.

The IFT authorization was given on June 17; although it clarified that Telcel will only be able to use the spectrum to provide fixed wireless access services. The prospect is that within three to five years it will also be able to offer 5G mobile services, for which the regulatory body should set other conditions and tax charges for Telcel.

With this purchase, América Móvil's subsidiary now has a spectral holding of 21.7% among all its frequencies, adding 26.4%.
