Geiner Alvarado is the new Minister of Transportation and Communications

Geiner Alvarado López was sworn in as new Minister of Transportation and Communications before the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo Terrones, replacing Juan Barranzuela, who days ago requested an unpaid leave of absence, the reasons have not been disclosed. Barranzuela had assumed the position in May of this year.

The new head of the MTC has served as Minister of Housing, Construction and Sanitation since July 2021, when Castillo's term began. Previously, he held managerial positions at the municipal and regional government levels in different districts and provinces of the country.

Alvarado López is a civil engineer with extensive experience in public service, management of public and private investment projects, infrastructure works and urban development. He has also worked as a teacher.

He has specialized studies in administration and public management, quality engineering, investment project management, among others related to closing social gaps through development projects.

After the buying rally, Millicom reports strong third-quarter results
