Xiaomi holds 30% of the cell phone market

Since Xiaomi arrived in Colombia in 2018, its sales growth has solidified in just five years. As of 2023, it is the brand with the most smartphone shipments in the market, accounting for around 30% of the total, according to Canalys. Recently, the Chinese company appointed Diego Wu as the new country manager for Colombia, who stated that the country is an important market for the multinational globally.

Wu noted, "Xiaomi Colombia has reached the number one position in smartphone shipments in the country, with a market share of 30%, and these figures have stood out globally. This market position helps us impact other Latin regions and gain the trust of consumers and partners. An example of this is that Colombia has been the venue for the regional launches of the Redmi Note Series for the past two years".

Regarding the future, he indicated, "We are looking to expand our Xiaomi stores. At the moment, we have 14 locations in the main cities of Colombia and our goal is to increase this number because we know Colombians appreciate seeing the brand physically and receiving personalized attention when looking to buy their technology products".
