MasOrange and Vodafone España have formalised the creation of a joint company to share and monetise the fibre optic network of both operators and thus reduce their high debt.
The joint venture will be 50% owned by MasOrange, 10% by Vodafone, and the remaining 40% by a financial investor yet to be incorporated.
Although the operators did not comment on the value of this company – generically called FibreCo – it is estimated to be between €9 and €10 billion.
The FTTH network will cover 12.2 million homes and businesses in Spain. All this infrastructure is already practically built and has 4.5 million active customers.
