Huawei, Samsung unveil Mate 80 Pro, Galaxy 26 smartphones

The week leading up to MWC Barcelona 2026 featured early product unveilings from Huawei and Samsung. The Chinese company chose Madrid to introduce its Huawei Mate 80 Pro, equipped with an enhanced True-to-Colour camera designed for consistent color accuracy across varying lighting conditions and mixed color temperatures. It also includes second-generation Kunlun Glass and advanced AI capabilities.

Meanwhile, at Samsung’s traditional Unpacked event, the company introduced the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, focused on delivering an intuitive AI experience. Among the AI integrations, Samsung announced a partnership with Perplexity to develop a new Samsung browser, and with Google to integrate Gemini AI across every layer of the Android ecosystem. On the hardware side, the South Korean company unveiled a “Privacy Screen” designed to protect on-screen visibility, although it is available only on the S26 Ultra model, priced at US$1.299. The device also features a 5000 mAh battery, five rear cameras, and S Pen support.

Google also moved ahead with the launch of the Pixel 10a, its new mid-range device featuring AI functions and satellite connectivity. On the latter, it includes the Satellite SoS service, available in 34 countries.

Honor and Apple. China’s Honor is set to unveil its first humanoid robot at its pre-MWC event this Sunday. Another proposal from the company is the HONOR Robot Phone, a smartphone that integrates a robotic arm where the main camera is mounted.

Outside MWC, Apple is also expected to reveal its plans, including the new iPhone 17. The date is set for March 4, with in-person events in New York, London and Shanghái.
