MVNOs call for regulatory changes to compete

Representatives of Guinea Mobile and other MVNOs met with regulator Osiptel to stress the need for adjustments to the Mobile Virtual Network Operators Regulation, updated in 2024, to improve operational agility for MVNOs.

Mariano de Osma, CEO of Guinea Mobile, which operates Cuy Móvil, noted that wholesale rates for network usage have been uncompetitive for years. “There is a lag of up to six months between the publication of reference rates and their implementation, forcing us to operate with outdated prices relative to market dynamics,” he said.
