Satellite Map Day 2026

Sateliot operates 4 active satellites providing coverage 4 to 5 times per day

As part of a debate at Satellite Map Day 2026, Carlos Riopedre, General Director of Sateliot, provided details on the current status of the company’s 5G NTN IoT network. “A full constellation is not required. With four satellites we are providing coverage four to five times per day, for agriculture, livestock, logistics and smart meters,” he said.

For the executive, the New Space segment has consolidated globally over the past year, driven by two factors: on one hand, a reduction in space segment costs; and on the other, standardization and the role of 3GPP. “That combination, when both factors converge, drives growth in the segment,” Riopedre said.

In particular for IoT applications, the Sateliot representative referred to “extraordinary demand” in areas without terrestrial coverage that require data to be collected and transmitted: “That is the NTN demand we already have,” he noted.
