Teleperformance introduced new call center

Teleperformance officially opened its new call center, to serve calls from a US firm, whose name has not been revealed given the confidentiality agreement executed. Some 200 employees are already working in the center, and the figure will go to 450, soon.

In addition to main executives of Teleperformance, the event included the Federal Planning Minister, Julio De Vido, and the Communications Secretary, Guillermo Moreno.

Teleperfomance Argentina expects to end 2003 with 1,100 labor posts, and revenues of US$ 7.3 million, two folding last year¿s figures (US$ 3.5 millones). The corporate strategy targets 70% of “offshore” clients, and  30% in the local market.

Norberto Varas, CEO of Teleperfomance Argentina, considered the call center industry may generate some 100,000 labor posts in five years. The goal is to snatch market from countries leader in the field, such as India, Ireland, and the Philliphines. Teleperformance asserted that in addition to low costs and highly qualified human resources, the cultural profile of Argentina is important. The company invested US$ 1.5 million along 2003, and plans to spend another US$ 1.7 million next years.

Microsoft, Motorola, Nextel, Impsat, Sony, DHL and Coca Cola, are some of the firms served by Teleperformance Argentina with call center outsourcing.

América Móvil reports growth in revenue, profits and customer base

Despite global economic and financial volatility, the Mexico-based operator achieved strong results in the second quarter. Its mobile customer base grew to 325.6 million (+0.5%) and UGIS customers reached 78 million (+0.3%). Net profit totaled US$1.143.6 million.
