Cablecentro to enter Internet businesses late in 2004

The cable TV operator announced launching of its broadband Internet access offer, as from the 2H this year. The project will request investments for US$ 115 million along the next three years, US$ 5 million of which were spent along the last six months. Bogotá will be the first city to count on the service, to be later expanded to Cúcuta, Bucaramanga, Ibagué, Neiva, Villavicencio, and Tunja, among others. Cablecentro aims at reinforcing its image as telecom provider, and be able to use capacity on its fiber-optics network. Currently, the firm offers corporate data transmission services. It counts on 220,000 TV subscribers. Late this year, it plans to total some 330,000 subscriptions, and increase sales in 50%.
