Sprint launched EVDO in Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands

The American cell phones operator will offer new information and entertainment services to its customers through its local network of Sprint Power Vision (SPV) based on EVDO. The new network will allow Sprint to manage data traffic 10 times bigger than its current network 1xRTT. Felipe Izquierdo, Sprint's consumer solutions general manager in Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands, stated that "in the last months we have enabled a network in the whole metropolitan areas from Puerto Rico, such as Ponce,  Mayagüez, Arecibo, Caguas, Hatillo. and in the Virgin Islands". According to Izquierdo migration to EVDO will come to an end in one year. Access to SVP network will have a cost of US$ 15 per month. Moreover, the customers should have some of the four telephony units that the company offers: MM-A900 and MM-A920 of Samsung, the MM-7500 of Sanyo or the PPC 6700 (Pocket PC).
