Emcali expands its coverage to rural areas with GSM

Emcali has installed 386 wireless fixed telephone lines that operate on GSM in the locality of Pance. Francisco Diego Mejía, telecommunications director of Emcali, explained that users of the service will also be able to have access to Internet. Moreover, Emcali plans to install close to 5,000 wireless fixed telephones through its GSM network in the rural areas of Yumbo, Tres Cruces, Jamundí and Dapa this year.

5G contracts progress as ICE raises additional concerns

The Comptroller’s Office has given the green light to the contracts signed by the six operators (two national and four regional) to begin the deployment of 5G. The state-owned ICE plans to take legal action if Sutel does not approve its agreement with Racsa to provide fifth-generation mobile phone service.
