Telefónica not committing itself to launch Imagenio in region

During IPTV World Forum Latin America, José del Valle Iturriaga Camblor, Multimedia Business Director of Telefónica Internacional stated the company's existing experiences in the region as regards Triple Play, and others. When asked about next IPTV commercial developments, Telefónica's executive only dare giving an evasive answer, stating that the launch would be with Imagenio in "some country, among Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Peru..." and the list continued.

However, some subsidiaries of the countries mentioned have already announced their plans: in Colombia, the launch will reach second half of the year, and the same might happen in Argentina, due to market versions. In the case of Chile, the company is offering "commercial evidence" with 300 customers.

In an exclusive interview with Convergencialatina, Latina American General Director of Telefónica, José María Álvarez Pallete, showed himself optimistic as regards removal of regulatory obstacles that halt deployment of the new service in the region.
