Giesecke & Devrient announced the purchase of SmartTrust

The German company Giesecke & Devrient (G&D), one of the main providers of bank bills and intelligent card solutions, today announced the purchase of SmartTrust AB, a renowned world provider of server solutions for managing applications on SIM cards and mobile phones. G&D, in collaboration with SmartTrust, will offer solutions to safely incorporate all services provided by mobile phone companies, banks, government agencies and transportation operators. The financial details of the transaction have not been published yet, although it was stated that G&D will purchase all shares held by the current owners of SmartTrust, including Carlyle Group, Eqvitec Technology Fund, TeliaSonera, and GE.
