The satellite reached its definitive orbital position at 36º West and will begin offering services after passing the tests in space. The Hispasat 36W-1 was launched last January from the European Space Port of Kourou (French Guiana) aboard a Soyuz vehicle from Arianespace. It covers South America and Europe, including the Canary Islands, and has 20 transponders in Ku band and additional capacity in Ka band. With a 15-year lifespan, it will offer video and cellular backhaul services, as well as business and broadband solutions, among others.
