The 8th Green Standards Week laid the foundations for the relationship between the circular economy and industry 4.0

The city of Zanzibar, Tanzania, hosted the ITU meeting held from 9-12 April 2018. Over 170 people from more than 25 countries participated in the meeting. The topics addressed included tackling e-waste and achieving a circular economy, human exposure to electromagnetic fields, and the IoT and artificial intelligence in the development of smart and sustainable cities.

The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Green Standards Week serves as a global platform for discussing and sharing knowledge about the use of ICTs to protect the environment, fulfill the potential of the circular economy, and aid the transition to smart and sustainable cities. The eighth edition of this meeting was held at the beginning of April in Zanzibar, Tanzania, and was organized by the ITU, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), the United Nations University (UNU), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Secretariat of the Basal Convention, and the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) . It was hosted by the Universal Communications Service Access Fund (UCSAF) and the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA).
