According to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), this moment is unique for Latin America because of the confluence of two paths: on the one hand, the acceleration of digitalization due to the coronavirus pandemic; on the other, the need to provide a solid foundation for economic recovery. And investment in connectivity combines both factors. According to a calculation by the multilateral credit institution, an average increase of 10% in broadband penetration would cause a rise of 3.19% in gross domestic product and 2.61% in productivity, helping to create more than 67,000 direct jobs.
