Primary elections in Uruguay: a former Antel runs for vice presidency in October

Carolina Cosse, who was president of the state operator between 2010 and 2015, finished second in the internal elections of Frente Amplio, but the one who won chose it to integrate the presidential formula. Gurméndez, other former big shot of Antel, was very relegated within Partido Colorado.

Since the electoral reform of 1996, Uruguay has held internal party elections for presidential candidates. The first internal election was in April 1999, and the most recent, held on last Sunday, not only defined the presidential candidates for next October 27, but also evidenced a clear fact: they were the least drawing-elections.
