European approach to AI turns to protectionism as the world recalculates in the face of “Brussels effect”

The basis is the defence of fundamental rights and requires human responsibilities at each stage of the life cycle of AI systems. This contrasts with the prevailing view in the US, the UK, China and Japan, which is focused on promoting investment.

August marked a new stage in AI regulation, with the eyes of the world turning to Europe. On the 1st of the month, the European Union's AI Law came into force, a milestone considering that it is the first comprehensive regulation on this technology worldwide.
