The Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) declared void the public tender, valued at US$125 million, intended for the implementation of 5G network infrastructure. The decision, recorded in the Sicop system, comes after a series of legal issues, including a constitutional challenge against the decree regulating 5G cybersecurity and enforcing the Budapest Convention. This convention prevents companies from countries that have not signed it, such as China, from participating in the tender, affecting the potential involvement of Huawei and significantly increasing the costs of the 5G network.
