When the Office of the United States Trade Representative announced last Tuesday that it would launch an investigation into Brazil’s trade policies under Section 301 of the Trade Act, many in the tech and social media sectors felt that this move by Donald Trump's administration marked a new phase in the conflict that began in August of last year, when Alexandre de Moraes, the reporting justice of Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court, ordered the blocking of X within Brazilian territory.
