Xiaomi arrives in Brazil with Smartphone Redmi 2 and without agreements with operators

Xiaomi, Chinese manufacturer of smartphones, will launch its new smartphone in Brazil, the Redmi 2. The device can be purchased for US$160. Initially, Xiaomi will handle sales exclusively through its website. Hugo Barra, international vice president of Xiaomi, explained that no agreement was reached with any Brazilian operator, at least so far, and this will provide lower prices for equipment.

While the first batch of devices is imported, Xiaomi has already initiated the local manufacturing at the plant Foxconn in Sao Paulo. This is the first case of manufacturing outside China for the company, and Brazil will serve as an expansion point of Latin America.

Xiaomi is installed in Brazil with 14 executives and by the hand of the service of delivery and technical assistance Pick Me, which will initially be available in 11 cities of the Great San Pablo.

At the launch event participated Rafael Steinhauser, president of Qualcomm for Latin America (the company will provide the processors for Xiaomi smartphones). The executive explained: "We have a partnership that is different. Wehelp  understand Brazil, concepts of certification and approval, our engineering centers will help, our laboratory showed the need to include national applications ".
