Gilat completes the implementation of the Amazonas regional broadband project

In partnership with the National Telecommunications Program, Gilat Peru implemented the Amazonas Broadband Project, which allows 268 locations with over 118,000 inhabitants, who previously did not have access to the Internet, to now have this service.

To cover the Amazonas region, the installation of over 1,270 km of optical fiber was required, along with more than 300 interconnected optical and wireless nodes, to provide internet service to 516 public institutions, of which 256 were schools, 219 health centers, and 41 police stations. Additionally, as part of the project, over 100 hotspots were installed to provide free Wi-Fi internet in multiple public squares in the region.

Currently, the project is in the supervision stage and also has an extension that will benefit more inhabitants and public institutions in the region.
