Vontel to use network of Multicanal and Cablevisión to offer fixed telephony

Vontel, Internet telephony company of Prima (Grupo Clarín) and Fibertel (of Cablevisión), will use Multicanal`s and Cablevisión`s cable networks - to offer their services. This way, they seek independency from Telefónica`s and Telecom’s infrastructure. According to Diego Posternak, director of Vontel, to use the cable connection to talk through the phone, users will also have to acquire an adaptor or hardware; however, he assured that the investment would be minimal. Although no date has been set, Vonatel and Fibertel expect to offer the services within the middle term. If they begin to use this technology and offer telephony, the companies would be prepared to offer triple play.
