SENIAT claims tributary reform to burden e-commerce

The National Integrated Service of Customs and Tax Administration (SENIAT) has proposed to the Executive a tributary reform for 2008. The collection organization wants to create four new taxes to burden e-commerce, selective consumption, patrimony and an ecology tax. The project is currently in the hands of the Finance Ministry, which will decide if implementing new taxes would be viable. The National Assembly, on its behalf, would approve the project. The tax to e-commerce seeks to manage transparency in tax declarations -like IVA – and define which country generates the tax.
