Internet of the Production augurs new race for standards

As it happened in the past with other technologies, such as mobile and Digital TV, entities that bring together operators, providers and regulatory authorities promise to encourage the dispute to define standards and protocols that allow interoperability. ECLAC raises the need for the region to participate in this discussion.

The development of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the Internet of production will lead to the industry's discussion of rules and standards. The study "The Digital Revolution" prepared by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) states that the interoperability of digital systems can be achieved in two ways. One is through the use of translation or aggregation platforms (for example, the middleware that sits between an operating system and applications), including the application programming interfaces (APIs) required to manage communication between different applications. The other mechanism is to create a common language for different systems in a data network using widely accepted interface standards.
