EXTRA - Movistar and Entel Chile turned on their 5G network

In the case of the Telefónica subsidiary, the Chilean operation is the first in Latin America to enable the fifth generation. In March 2022, Movistar will have a 5G presence in the 16 regions of the country. The plan includes the deployment of more than 1,500 base stations. On Entel's side, all its pre-paid and post-paid clients that have 5G terminals enabled (today there are about 47,500), will be able to access the technology in 33 communes of the Metropolitan Region.

The announcements by Telefónica and Entel were communicated within the framework of the official announcement of the start of 5G in Chile, in which the president Sebastián Piñera, the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Gloria Hutt, and the companies that were awarded the 5G Contest participated.
