SG-1 remains firm in Arsat plan and relocates in 2027

This was reported by Hugo Nahuys, manager of Space Services of the Argentine state company, during Satellite Map Day 2024. The new device will have 34 times more communications capacity than the Arsat-1. The manufacturing cost is equivalent to a third of what it would cost Arsat to rent capacity on a foreign satellite.

At the mercy of the political and institutional whirlwind, Arsat set a new launch date for the SG-1 satellite and announced it within the framework of Satellite Map Day 2024, organized by Convergencialatina. The launch into orbit is planned for the first quarter of 2027, two years after the last date that had been indicated in mid-2023.
