Telefónica has eight implementations of private LTE networks in Latin America

For Rodrigo Andrés Rivera Basaez, manager of Telefónica's B2B Hispam Digital Services, in a period of two to three years, LTE will remain as the preeminent technology in private networks, and then make the switch to 5G. Currently LTE covers 90% of use cases. The executive will be part of the Convergencialatina Big Players Map Day 2021 event, on November 24.

Rodrigo Andrés Rivera Basaez, manager of Telefónica's B2B Hispam Digital Services said this to Convergencialatina. They are found in Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, Colombia and Brazil with LTE as technology that has managed to cover a large part of use cases. "5G is the second step for certain capacities that LTE could not provide," said the executive. These implementations seek to automate operational business processes in mining, ports, manufacturing, and involve a transition from legacy networks to mission-critical networks.
